A key advantage of the Eriez Flotation is our staff of highly experienced flotation specialists and mineral processing engineers.  This enables us to work co-operatively with our customers to test and deliver unique technology solutions to solve important industrial problems.  Here are some of the key process experts on our international team.


South America


Luciano Arantes
Deputy Managing Director – Eriez Flotation|Brasil

Based in Brasil

Luciano graduated with a Bachelor in Accounting at the Catholic University, Minas Gerais and a specialization in Cost Management from IETEC. He spent more than 15 years working as a Controller at a number of automotive multinational companies before joining Eriez in 2012.

Luciano manages the office in Brasil including management, planning, internal controls, treasury, financial statements, auditing, legal requirements, financials reporting, tax issues, IT and HR using his hands-on skill. He is also responsible for CAPEX and OPEX analyses.                  

He has additional responsibility for overseeing financials statements  and controls across all of the Eriez Flotation South America offices.


Javier Baeza
Deputy Managing Director – Eriez Flotation|Chile

Based in Chile

Javier has a B.Sc in Civil Engineering from the Universidad Técnica Federico Santa María (UTFSM) in Valparaiso, Chile.  He is responsible for Eriez Flotation’s Chile office.

Javier has over 15 years’ experience in project management and sales in different markets such as oil and gas, construction and mining. Before joining Eriez, Javier has worked as a project manager and as a product manager at Prodalam, which specializes in the supply of equipment and materials for tunnels, civil and mining projects.


Gino Colombo
Process Engineer

Based in Chile

 Gino has a degree in engineering metallurgy from the University of Santiago de Chile. Before joining Eriez Flotation, Gino worked as a metallurgical process engineer at Minera Mantos de la Luna Mining Company, developing a copper chlorinated leaching process study at laboratory and then industrial level and subsequently implementing the process. In addition, Gino was the head of the Wet Area Shift in the same mining company. He also worked at Sande S.A. in the commercial area as a product manager, where he developed market studies and actively participated in the management of pre and post sales.


Christian Concha
Process Engineer

Based in Peru

Christian has a B.Sc in Metallurgical Engineering and a B.Sc in Mechanical Engineering both from the San Agustin University, Arequipa (Peru).

Christian has worked in project development and a number of operations such as the El Toro Mine, the Anabi Mine, and at Minsur’s San Rafael Concentrator.


Jose Concha
Deputy Managing Director - Eriez Flotation|Peru

Based in Peru

Jose is a licensed Chemical Engineer (B.Sc, San Agustin University, Arequipa) and has a M.Sc in Metallurgical Engineering from the Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro (Brasil) and an MBA from ESAN Graduate School of Business, Lima.

Before joining Eriez in 2012, Jose worked at Outotec (Peru) where he has held positions as process engineer, flotation manager and concentrator and hydrometallurgical plants manager for the Andean Market (Peru, Bolivia, Ecuador and Colombia).

Prior to that, Jose has worked as a senior supervisor at Newmont’s Yanacocha Mine (Newmont), a supervisor at Milpo’s Pampa de Cobre & Atacocha Mine, and as a process engineer at Buenaventura’s Orcopampa Mine and Transmin Metallurgical Consultants.


Weslley Mederios
Process Engineer

Based in Brasil

Weslley has a B.Sc in Metallurgical Engineering from the Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais, where he is also an M.Sc candidate.

Weslley worked with the production of FeSi alloys in electric arc furnace, before he joined Eriez Flotation in 2011.


Felipe Valdés
Process Engineer

Based in Chile

Felipe has a B.Sc in Metallurgical Engineering from the Universidad de Santiago de Chile, and has worked in a variety of metallurgical and chemical process.  Before joining Eriez Flotation, Felipe worked at Delkor South America as a process and testing engineer for the design of thickeners and filters, and with the Chilean nuclear commission as a process engineer for the purification and processing of enriched uranium (LEU) at laboratory and pilot level. He has also worked as  a consulting engineer in the area of HazOp analysis.

North America

Shahram Alvani P.Eng.
Engineering Manager

Based in Canada

Shahram leads the mechanical Engineering team in Vancouver head-office of the Eriez Flotation. He leads a team of mechanical engineers and designers with combined 100 years of experience.

He has over 25 years of experience in Mechanical Engineering including 7 years of experience at Eriez as Lead Mechanical Engineer and Engineering Manager.
Prior to joining Eriez, Shahram also worked for large EPCM and Manufacturing Companies as a Senior and Lead Mechanical Engineer or Engineering Department Supervisor. His experience includes leading mechanical team on multibillion dollar projects.

Shahram obtained his Bachelor and Master of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Tehran University and is a registered Professional Engineer in BC, SK, AB and ON.
Shahram is a certified Welding Engineer through the Canadian Welding Bureau (CWB).

Adrian Bill
Process Engineer, EIT

Based in Canada

Adrian joined the Eriez team in 2017.  He is a graduate of the McGill University Engineering co-op program with a degree in Materials Engineering.  He has most recently spent two years with Barrick Gold Corp.'s Technology and Test Lab, AuTec, where he participated in a number of lab and pilot-scale programs focused on refractory gold recovery.

Marin Hanu 
Senior Process Engineer

Based in the USA

Marin is a licensed professional engineer with affiliations in 4 Canadian provinces (ON, AB, BC and MB) and over 15 years experience in equipment design and project delivery for Mining and Oil Sands industries.

Before joining Eriez Flotation Division in 2019, Marin was the Head of Engineering for Outotec, leading the design and development of Flotation, Thickeners and Samplers in North and Central America region. In his role, Marin managed various large-scale projects from design to implementation.

Maoming Fan, Ph.D.
Senior Process Engineer

Based in the USA

Maoming joined Eriez as a process engineer in 2009. He graduated with a B.Sc, M.Sc and PhD in mineral processing engineering from China University of Mining and Technology (CUMT), where he was appointed as an associate professor in 2002. He received his second Ph.D. degree in mining engineering from the University of Kentucky (UK) in 2008 with an emphasis in minerals processing. At the University of Kentucky, Maoming was responsible for a variety of lab and pilot scale evaluations including enhanced froth flotation through the use of ultra-fine bubbles (i.e, picobubble flotation). He has authored or co-authored over 85 technical papers, edited 10 book chapters, and has been awarded three patents. In his current role as Senior Process Engineer, Maoming assists and oversees the completion of large-scale laboratory development projects in greenfield and brownfield applications using his wide-ranging knowledge in flotation and surface chemistry.

Drew Hobert

Operations Director, Eriez Flotation | USA
Based in the USA

Drew joined Eriez as a mineral processing engineer in 2014. He graduated with a B.Sc (2013) and M.Sc (2014) in Mining Engineering from Virginia Tech.  While at Virginia Tech, Drew’s graduate research focused on flotation air sparging under an assistantship sponsored by Eriez Flotation.

Since joining Eriez, Drew has contributed to the continued development of Eriez’ HydroFloat and StackCell technologies within the sulfide industry while expanding Eriez Flotation’s laboratory and field technical service capabilities as Technical Services Manager. As Operations Director of Eriez Flotation USA, Drew currently manages the technical services group to provide support for global technical projects in collaboration with the global flotation team. Such support includes laboratory and pilot test services, new product development, and industrial commissioning and troubleshooting activities.


Craig Hutchinson

Product Manager - Sparging Systems

Based in Canada

Craig is a graduate of the University of British Columbia. Craig has been a member of the Eriez Flotation Canada team (previously Canadian Process Technologies Inc.) since 2006.   Craig’s experience in industrial sales spans more than twenty years, primarily in the mining, HVAC and filtration industries.  Craig’s primary focus is sparging systems, focusing on flotation and leaching applications.  Craig works closely with our customers to provide superior sparging systems for new projects as well as retrofitting existing plants with state of the art sparging technology, which includes follow-up service and training.  

Oscar Lopez
Sales Manager - Mexico and Central America

Based in Mexico

Oscar graduated from the Instituto Politecnico Nacional with a degree in Metallurgical Engineering. After graduation, he worked for the Penoles Mining Group at La Encantada, Bismark, Sabinas and Milpillas Concentrator plants, followed by ten years at the Penoles Development and Research Center, working on various metallurgical projects. During this time, he received a M.Sc from the ITESM, Mexico.

Oscar joined Outotec in 2007 as manager of metallurgy, and then sales manager for process equipment, and senior sales manager for hydrometallurgical products. In 2013 Oscar joined FLSmidth as senior sales manager for capital equipment in Mexico and Central America where he had a major impact improving FLS’ position in the Mexican mining market.

Oscar joined the Eriez Flotation in April 2016 with responsibilities for Mexico and Central America. He is also working part-time on a PhD in flotation applications in mineral processing.

Grace Ng, PMP
Project Manager

Based in Canada

Grace is a designated Project Management Professional (PMP) since 2013.  She graduated as a mechanical technologist in Canada and has worked for global companies in the manufacturing, fabrication and construction industries.  She worked as project manager for over 10 years in heavy industrial manufacturing, with global customers and vendors, prior to joining Eriez in 2019.

Shashi Nemade, P.Eng
Operations Director, Canadian Ops
Based in Canada

Shashi is a Mechanical Engineering graduate from Pune University in India and is a licensed Professional Engineer in British Columbia, Canada.  He has also completed his diploma in Business Management from Pune University.  Shashi has been a key member of the global Eriez Flotation team since 2006 and is now responsible for running the Canadian Operations, which includes sales, engineering and project execution in North America and around the world.

Subrata Roy, P.Eng
Process Engineer

Based in Canada

Subrata has BSc in Materials & Metallurgical Engineering from Bangladesh University of Engineering & Tech (BUET) and MASc in Materials Engineering from University of British Columbia (UBC). He is a Licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in BC.

Before joining Eriez Flotation in 2018, he worked at New Afton Mine (New Gold Inc.) as Metallurgist for ~4 years. He played an integral part of New Afton process team during commissioning and optimization of rougher flotation circuit expansion. He also participated in numerous mill circuit surveys and assisted to mill operation personnel for daily troubleshooting to improve metal recovery and reduce losses. Prior to that, Subrata worked at PotashCorp of Saskatchewan (Rocanville) as Process Engineer and at SGS Minerals Services (Burnaby) as Junior metallurgist.  


Tim Sheehan, P.Eng

Director, Sales and  Process Engineering

Based in Canada

Tim joined Eriez after five years as the senior mineral processing engineer at Unimin Corporation where he managed the technical services group through multi-disciplinary research into projects to improve the industrial operation of high purity quartz and glass sand processing.  As well, Tim was a key member of the process design team through the development of a new 50 million dollar feldspar processing plant.  Prior to that Tim spent several years as a graduate researcher at Virginia Tech. (Department of Mining and Minerals Processing) investigating column flotation systems. 

After an initial period managing the technical services lab at Eriez Manufacturing Co., in Erie PA., Tim joined the Eriez Flotation in Canada where he leads the process engineering group.  Tim has a B.S. in Mining and Minerals Engineering from Virginia Tech.

Elena V. Tselykh
Senior Process Engineer

Based in Canada

Elena is a graduate of the Moscow Institute of Steel and Alloys with a degree in Mineral Process Engineering with specialties in froth flotation, flotation enrichment and flotation reagents.

Elena has over twenty years of experience within a variety of mineral processing applications.  Before joining Eriez Flotation in Canada, Elena was the senior process engineer (Mining Department) for CETCO, based in Russia, where she was responsible for planning and conducting flotation test programs, analysis and interpretation of test data, subsequent mass and material balance and process design of flotation flow-sheets for a variety of mineral applications.

Eric Bain Wasmund, Ph.D., P.Eng.
Global Managing Director

Based in Canada

Eric graduated in Chemical Engineering (B.Sc Queen's) and has a Ph.D in process metallurgy (Ph.D McMaster) and is a licensed professional engineer in Ontario and British Columbia.  He spent almost twenty years working for Inco and Vale in a number of technical and commercial roles world-wide related to process engineering and extractive metallurgy, most recently as the engineering manager for corporate capital projects.  He has also worked at Outotec, where he managed the North American flotation products business.

Asa Weber
Stackcell Product Line Manager 

Based in the USA

Asa Weber is the Global StackCell® Product Manager. In this role, he will oversee all sales, business development, marketing, and technology related to the company’s StackCell flotation business. Weber has held leadership positions at several high-profile companies in the minerals sector over the course of his more than three-decades-long career. His professional focus has mainly centered on mechanical and column flotation equipment. Weber’s vast expertise includes flotation equipment design, flotation circuit configuration, and equipment optimization. Weber earned both a bachelor’s and master’s degree in mining and minerals engineering from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (Virginia Tech). He has distinguished himself in the field through numerous professional presentations, technical papers and articles. Weber is currently an active member of the Society for Mining,

Eric Yan

Principal Technical Lead
Based in the USA

Eric joined Eriez in 2005. He completed his undergraduate Mining Engineering degree at the National Taipei University, after which he received his doctorate from Virginia Tech. Upon completion of his graduate studies, Eric held the position of Product Development Manager with Outotec (formerly Outokumpu) in Jacksonville, Florida. While at Outotec, Eric was responsible for several international patents.

Since joining Eriez, Eric has contributed significantly to the development of Eriez’ HydroFloat and StackCell flotation technologies through his roles as Product Innovation and Technical Directors. As Principal Technical Lead, Eric currently acts as a technical expert, assisting the global mineral processing and mechanical engineering teams in execution of industrial projects. In this role, Eric is fundamental to the training and improved education of the Flotation engineering group due to his extensive background in sulfide, industrial minerals, fertilizer, and coal flotation.



Liam Davis

Process Engineer

Based in Australia

Liam graduated from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RIMT) with honors and a B.Sc. in chemical engineering. In 1996, Liam was employed by Siemens Ltd. for 10 years as a Product Manager supporting the Instrumentation and Control Business for Australasia.

In 2006, Liam joined Eriez to work as a Process Engineer, to support the growing flotation business with his focus primarily in the coal sector. Since that time, he has gained significant experience in both base metals and industrial minerals.

Homie Thanasekaran

Sales Manager

Based in Australia

Homie graduated with a B.Sc in Chemical Engineering degree from the Annamalai University, India in 2001 and a M.Sc. from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology Australia in 2004.

In 2006, Homie was hired by BHP Billiton Australia to work as a project metallurgist in the Olympic dam operations. His work focused on froth flotation circuit optimization and sulphide recovery improvement project.

In 2011, he was hired by Eriez Flotation Australia to work as a process engineer to develop and support new flotation separation technologies. These efforts included work in froth flotation for fine particle flotation as well as coarse particle flotation. To this end, Homie has conducted multiple in-field pilot scale test evaluations.


Nee San Yap

Process Engineer, Ph.D.

Based in Australia

Nee San has a B. Eng. (honours) and Ph.D. in chemical engineering from the University of Melbourne. She joined Eriez Australia in 2018 as a flotation process engineer. Previously she worked at CSIRO (Melbourne) as a senior research engineer focusing on implementation and commercialisation of CSIRO's technologies. Having also worked for Gekko Systems (Australia) Nee San acquired significant experience in gravity recovery methods. She also has experience in flotation, intensive cyanidation leaching, and carbon in pulp and cynadie destruction processes.



Khosana Mohlabane
Process Engineer
Based in South Africa
Khosana Mohlabane has a National Diploma in Chemical Engineering from Vaal  University of Technology and a certificate in Sales and Marketing from the University of South Africa.  He started his career at the Mineral Processing Division of Mintek in 2000 and after two years he moved from physical separation to flotation and was promoted to Senior Flotation Technical Expert.  Part of his responsibilities included conducting laboratory, mini and pilot plant test-work, developing flow-sheets, and technical writing.  Khosana was awarded a merit certificate for outstanding work in platinum flotation.  In 2007, he joined Metso as a process engineer, where he was involved in systems/turn-key projects, proposals, sizing of equipment, commissioning and plant audits.  In 2010 Khosana joined Eriez South Africa as a flotation sales and process engineer.  He has experience in platinum, nickel, coal, phosphate, diamonds, gold, chromite and iron ore.  


Liu Aichun
EFD China Manager & Mining Industry Manager of Eriez China
Based in Tianjin, China 

Aichun is responsible for running the business operations for mining industries in China as well as in Mongolia and Southeast Asia areas, focusing on flotation technology, combining with magnetic technologies. Aichun leads a team of 3 laboratory mineral processing engineers, who have rich knowledge and excellent capabilities in coal and minerals processing, supported by 2 professional mechanical engineers and 3 after-sales engineers, proving technical support, engineering, installation & commissioning, and customer management services.
Aichun has a B.Sc. degree in mineral processing engineering from the Northeastern University (NEU) of China. He has over 15 years’ experience in mineral processing since he graduated in 2005, started as a mineral processing engineer in an iron ore concentration company for 5 years. Aichun joined Eriez China in 2010 as the Test Lab Manager, in charge of the minerals and materials test, who developed himself as the Manager for the whole mining industries and becomes one of the pioneers for promoting the flotation technology in China, with successful running operations for Copper, Bauxite, Potash, Iron Ore, and Coal industries.
